Food is more than just a basic need, it’s a human right. One that should guarantee your favourite plate of chakula is available and affordable. One that protects our mama mbogas, ensuring they sell safe, healthy produce. It’s the right that should keep every Kenyan free from hunger and ensure no child goes to school or to bed on an empty stomach. Yet, for over 10 million Kenyans, chronic food insecurity is an everyday struggle.
That’s why we were honoured to be commissioned by Route to Food to produce Season 2 of the Cha Kula podcast is a bold, thought-provoking series that explores food in Kenya through political, economic, and social lenses. Because food isn’t just about eating; it’s about justice, equity, and power.
